Firstly, the White House changed the wording of one sentence in the speech because people were freaking out so much. He didn't modify it to make it less political, he modified it to pacify immature Republican politicians. The entire speech was intended to encourage kids to try hard in school. The best example for them are all the crazy right wingers reacting to the innocuous speech. He should have said, "do well in school or you might end up like them." Grow up people! He often visits schools to read to children. Is that okay? I'm sure he's trying to indoctrinate them through some kind of subliminal messaging.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, writing it as an editorial. Did you happen to read the pre-speech curriculum that was published? Giving a message to do your best and stay in school is fine. I do believe the speech was modified to be less "political" after the uproar was heard.
