Perham K- sorry, you are correct it is up to MSHL rules. Often times these rules are similar to rules of conduct set forward by the school district. again there are bigger problems in schools- I have been following this community from a distance and this community has a lot to be proud of!! Sure appears to a be an excellent school district and one to be proud of

actually darin you are inncorrect. just being at an after school function does not mandate you to the districts rules. its the high school league rules that are in effect. if the student does not participate in the after school activity directly then they are a spectator and subject to the same rules as you and i. in any case, you have to consider the source of the remarks for this article. BP is crazy, no two ways about it. she has been wanting to dictate her morals from the time she has been elected to the board. she has tried to ban books and several other questionable items. i, for one, am glad she is not running for another term for the school board. perhaps she needs to address some of the issues facing her family (most of us up here knows what that means) rather than dictating morality to the rest of us. and if you want to talk skimpy how about the volleyball players uniforms? and cheerleading skirts? if those were not official school cheerleading skirts the student wearing them would be sent home for violating the skirt length rule.

I agree there typically are much more pressing concerns for school board members. I do want to address the point of 'out of school' time. As long as students are attending school functions-football,volleyball, plays etc they are under the rules of conduct set forward by the school district. It is up to the school officials- teachers, administration to inforce those rules at school sponsored activities. This does leave it pretty subjective to what is considered appropriate clothing for an event. Hopefully, those individuals having to make that call are backed by their school district and the situation is handled with respect to each individual. Hopefully, parents will step in and address this, but often times I would bet the kids didn't leave the parents home dressed the way they show up at some of these activities.

If the girls were not in violation of MN State High School League rules, whether or not they are wearing "skimpy" clothes is completely subjective. I cannot believe adults who are supposed to be looking out for students' best interests are using words like "brothel" and "burlesque worker" to insult teenage girls. How unneccessarily demeaning and derrogatory to these girls! 15 and 16 year old girls often make questionable fashion choices as they struggle to find their own feminine identity, agreed. But to call into judgement their personal character and lifestyle? That's bold, as well as insensitive and offensive. Thank you to the school board members who spoke up for parents' responsibilities concerning their own children's attire. I certainly hope the school board has more significant items on their agenda for the next meeting.

How sad, the school board isn't happy just makeing dumb rules for in the school, they have to stick there noses in places that they do not belong... It is up to the parents what there kids can wear outside of school not the school board members. Maybe they should concern them selves with the stuff they are suppose to and not waste time and tax payers money on matters that are none of there business. Word of advice do the job you are there to do and stop trying to be controling over every part of students lives...

Otherwise it's just hearsay or one person's opinion...How does this person know what brothel workers wear?
