Maren Ann Shields was born on August 10, 1931 in rural Marietta, MN, to parents, Daniel and Ruth (Olson) Shields. She was baptized at Augusta Lutheran Church of Marietta, and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Perham, MN. Maren Ann attended school in Perham, graduating from Per-ham High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Leslie Hoium on September 19, 1953 in Perham. To this union five children were born. In 1955, Maren Ann and Les purchased the Marietta Locker Plant. They owned and operated this until 1976. In life, Maren Ann enjoyed church, playing cards, music, weekend outings with Jared, and spending time with her family. She was a 33-year member of the Marietta American Legion Auxiliary.
Maren Ann is survived by her children, Keith Hoium, Kurt Hoium (special friend Julie French), Sheila Seidell (special friend Scott Earnhardt), all of Marietta, Janet Hoium (special friend Brad Wil-son) of Bellingham, MN, and Jared Hoium of Marietta; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Smith of Battle Lake, MN.
Maren Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Ruth Shields; husband, Leslie Hoium; and two sisters, Elsie Hofland and Evelyn Isenhower. Blessed be her memory.
