Marianne Catherine Minten

Marianne Catherine Minten, 78, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at her home. Her funeral was held Saturday, February 6, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, with Father Joe Herzing officiating.

Marianne Catherine Minten, 78, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at her home. Her funeral was held Saturday, February 6, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, with Father Joe Herzing officiating.

Marianne was born March 15, 1931, in Perham, to Edward and Anna (Wallace) Guck. After graduating high school, she worked at Eagles Cafe in Perham, and at the Perham Memorial Hospital before her marriage to Martin Minten on September 27, 1950. Together they had seven children and 11 grandchildren over their 48 year marriage. Marianne worked on the farm with Martin until they “retired” and moved to town in 1989. She was a 4-H leader for the Butler Buttercups and also a member of the Christian Mothers. Marianne became a member of Catholic Aid in 1988, and also was actively volunteering at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home and attending the Senior Citizen's Center. Marianne loved baking, gardening, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Marianne is survived by six children, Steve (Jeanette) Minten, New York Mills, MN, Dennis (Nancy) Minten, Medical Lake, WA, Peter (Bonnie) Minten, Auburn, WA, Bob (Sandy) Minten, Fairbanks, AK, Betty (Eric) Gauss, Norwalk, CA, and Linda Minten, Lino Lakes, MN; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and another on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Vince (Bernadette) Guck; sisters-in-law Delores Minten, Irene Moenkedick, Mary Weis and Lucille Altringer; an aunt and uncle, Alex Guck and Babe Ebeling; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Marianne in death are her parents; husband, Martin in 1999; son, Billy; sister, Patty; and brothers-in-law, Joe Minten, John Weis, John Moenkedick, Dwaine Altringer, and Harold Selchert.
