Ervin A. O. Lubitz, 92, of Sunfield, Mich., died Tuesday morning, August 10, 2010, at Eaton Community Hospice, Charlotte, Mich.
Ervin A. O. Lubitz, 92, of Sunfield, Mich., died Tuesday morning, August 10, 2010, at Eaton Community Hospice, Charlotte, Mich.
Mr. Lubitz was born July 14, 1918 at Corliss (Otter Tail County), the son of Otto and Anna (Meier) Lubitz. On September 18, 1939, he married Elsie B. Hinch in Corliss. He served with the Marines during World War II, was a farmer and a retired employee of Roberts Corporation, Grand Ledge, Mich. He loved woodworking.
Mr. Lubitz was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, on April 16, 2001; son, Gene Lubitz on March 1, 2006; grandson, Gary Dean Lubitz; sister, Laura Raatz Chammnes; and two brothers, Hank and Ruben Lubitz.
Surviving are his children, Janice (Leslie) Sedore of Grand Ledge, Ervin (Laurie) Lubitz, Jr. of Sunfield and Gary (Chris) Lubitz of Medina, Tex.; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elenor Stewart of Menahga, Minn.; brother, Wilbert Lubitz of New York Mills; sisters-in-law, Cecelia Lubitz of New York Mills and Elsie Lubitz of Perham; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, August 17, at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, Mich., with Rev. Darrel Bosworth officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, the Sunfield Historical Society or the Sunfield S.P.Y.S.
